Compounding Pharmacist/NAMS Certified Menopause Pr

Lyle Sunada graduated from the University of B.C. pharmacy program in 1990 and began working at Cloverdale Pharmasave as a pharmacist and is now the pharmacy manager.  Lyle was actively involved with a 1998 study (SCRIP: Study of Cardiovascular Risk Intervention by Pharmacists) to show how community pharmacists can play a significant role in helping high risk cardiovascular patients with lowering cholesterol levels. Lyle has become the resident "Hormone Expert" and has recently earned his designation as NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner.  Lyle is also a "Heart Health Coach" and can do heart disease risk assessments, complete cholesterol testing, and cholesterol management assessments.

On top of traditional medicine, Lyle developed interests in other areas including veterinary and alternative/complementary medicine. Working together with Dr. Henry Cheng, Lyle helped with the expansion of the pharmacy to what it is today. With over 20 years of experience, Lyle has provided honest, professional advice regarding natural and veterinary medicine and has collaborated with many naturopaths and veterinarians.

In 1996, the pharmacy became a member of PCCA (Professional Compounding Centers of America). Lyle flew to Houston, Texas and was formally trained in the art of custom-making medications including capsules, suppositories, lozenges, transdermal gels, toothpastes, nasal sprays, etc." With over 15 years of practical experience with compounding, doctors and veterinarians frequently call on him to help formulate medications to help solve medication problems that traditional medicine can't solve. In 2010, Lyle appeared on the TV show "North of 49" to discuss compounding for animals.

Lyle is probably best known for his expertise in natural or bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and has worked with 100’s of patients and doctors in providing expert advice on balancing hormones. He has helped patients with menopause, peri-menopause, PMS, andropause, stress/adrenal dysfunction, thyroid dysfunction, hot flashes, insomnia, weight loss, hair loss, PCOS, etc. Lyle has been offering private consultations for patients for close to 20 years and will get referrals from physicians and naturopaths to help with hormone balancing recommendations. He has presented many talks to physicians and patients including seminars to the B.C. Natural Health Symposium, U.B.C. Pharmacy Dept., West Coast Women’s Show, and the Canadian Longevity and Anti-Aging Academy.
